What we do for solicitors
Translation services for immigration practice.
Certified legal translation
Full certified translation including stamps, seals and marginalia, with a Certificate of Accuracy on UK letterhead and the translator’s signature on every page. Formatted for UKVI, the Home Office and HMCTS.
Asylum bundles & Central-Asian documents
Country evidence, witness statements, civil-registry and court documents in our specialist languages. We maintain cross-document consistency of names, dates and places across a bundle.
COI source translation
We source and translate Country of Origin material — local press, court rulings, government notices, NGO reports — for your COI specialist or counsel to use. We translate the sources; we do not write opinion or analysis.
Witness statements & rush work
Foreign-language witness evidence prepared to the CPR Part 32 format, and urgent turnaround for tribunal deadlines by agreement — flag the deadline on enquiry.
How we work with firms
From enquiry to certified bundle.
Initial enquiry
Email us the document list — no commitment. We typically respond with a quote within one working hour during business hours.
Data Processing Agreement
We sign a UK GDPR-compliant DPA before receiving any client documents. We are prepared to work to your firm’s standard template or to provide our own.
Secure document delivery
Encrypted email, secure file transfer, or your firm’s file-sharing portal. We do not accept client documents via unencrypted consumer apps.
Translation & certification
Your documents are translated by our named UK-based linguist and quality-checked before delivery, to the ISO 17100 translate–revise–check workflow. A Certificate of Accuracy is issued on company letterhead, signed and dated by the company’s certifying signatory, an ITI Affiliate.
Invoice
Itemised per document, addressed to your firm, with 14-day payment terms. No retainer, no minimum. Suitable for legal-aid disbursement claims.
Re-issue if rejected
If a Home Office or Tribunal rejection is attributable to translation quality, we re-issue the translation with a fresh Certificate of Accuracy at no cost.
What we don't do
Honest about our scope.
Setting clear expectations helps solicitors assess fit before investing time in an enquiry.
No immigration advice
We translate documents. We do not advise on immigration routes, applications or prospects — that is qualified legal work for you, not us.
No COI opinion
We do not write Country of Origin Information reports or offer expert opinion. We do source and translate COI materials in our specialist languages for your COI specialist to use.
Human-certified translation
Every certified translation is produced and checked by a human translator and signed by hand. Software may assist with administration — counting pages, preparing a quote — but it does not produce the certified text.
No outsourcing outside the UK
Tajik, Uzbek and Russian are translated by our own UK-based translator, and every translation is certified in the UK by the director, an ITI Affiliate. We do not pass certified work to overseas agencies.
Languages — direct, in-house
No agency. No markup. No machine.
Specialist set
Also in-house
On request
On request Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Ukrainian are translated by a vetted linguist engaged for the job. We say so before quoting, and no document is passed on without your agreement.

Frequently asked by firms
Common questions from instructing solicitors.
Do you provide a Data Processing Agreement (DPA)?
Yes. We execute a UK GDPR-compliant DPA with any firm that sends us client documents. We are prepared to work to your standard template or to provide our own.
Can your translations be used for legal-aid matters?
Yes. We issue itemised invoices addressed to your firm with 14-day payment terms, at LAA-compliant rates. Invoices can be submitted as disbursements on legal-aid files, subject to your firm’s standard process.
What is your standard turnaround?
Usually 1–2 working days for a single document and 2–3 working days for a small pack (up to five documents); larger asylum bundles by arrangement. Urgent deadlines, including tribunal dates, by agreement — please flag on enquiry.
Which languages do you cover directly, without agency markup?
Tajik, Uzbek and Russian are translated in-house by our named translator — no agency, no markup; the certified text is produced by a human translator. Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Ukrainian are handled on request by a vetted linguist engaged for the matter: we tell you before quoting, and nothing is passed on without the firm’s agreement.
How does invoicing work for firms?
Every job is invoiced individually to your firm. Invoices itemise per document, are addressed to the firm, and carry 14-day payment terms — no retainer, no minimum commitment.
Can you re-issue a translation if the Home Office requests revision?
Yes, at no cost. If a rejection is attributable to translation quality — formatting, completeness or accuracy — we re-issue the translation and provide a fresh Certificate of Accuracy.
Do you provide Country of Origin Information (COI) reports?
No — we are translators, not country experts. We do source and translate COI materials in our specialist languages on request: local press, court rulings, government notices, NGO reports. Your COI specialist or counsel uses the translated sources; we do not offer opinion or analysis.
Is the translator DBS-checked?
Yes. The translator holds a DBS Basic certificate, and so does the director who signs the Certificate of Accuracy (issued March 2026, no records). Certificates can be provided on request — useful where your firm’s vetting policy requires it for handling vulnerable clients’ data.
How do you handle solicitor client data?
We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR. MENDEE LTD is a registered data controller with the ICO (ZC101023). We sign a Data Processing Agreement at engagement and provide details of our data-handling practices on request.
What happens to documents after the case closes?
Documents are retained only for the period specified in the DPA. On expiry — or on written request — all client documents and copies are securely deleted from our systems. We provide written confirmation of destruction on request.
